My name is Betsy Prieto and I am a custom photographer in the Dallas, Texas area. I specialize in photographing kids of all ages-- from babies who are not even born yet to teenagers. I have two beautiful children of my own-- and you'll see them here sometimes (when they are not running from my camera). Photography has become my passion-- and I hope you can see that in my work. My blog is where I will post recent sessions, sneak previews for my clients and promotions for everyone to take advantage of! Please take a look at my website and see if I am the photographer for you! Also, examples of custom portraits are displayed at Yaya's Boutique in The Shops At Legacy in Plano, Texas and The My Gym in Frisco, Texas. Please feel free to leave comments-- I love reading what you all think! Enjoy!

Snow in Texas!!

This isn’t the first snowfall this year for us– but it is the first time we’ve been able to take advantage of it!!   With not one thing planned for today (which is SUPER rare), we have already been out in it three times– made two snowmen (1st one was knocked down by some middle school boys after we went inside– I could only see their backs!), made a fort, went sledding, made snow angels and had a snow ball fight!  Phew… They are begging to go back out, but I am making them “rest” and dethaw for an hour… so here are a few of my favorite shots from today!

Triple the fun….. and triple the tears?

No!!!  One year olds are one of the hardest ages to photograph– simply because they are usually a tad afraid of strangers AND… they don’t take bribes!!  So– with triplets, there is very likely going to be at least one who doesn’t want to participate.

Mama didn’t think we got ANY cute shots (because of a little stranger anxiety, a little bit of cold wind and a lot of time indoors this winter)… but I’m here to prove her wrong!  I already sent her one family shot on facebook just to ease her fears… but here are some more!  We didn’t get a whole lot of the three kids together without their parents, so we’re doing a mini-reshoot inside next week!  I’m sure we’ll have better luck!  How cute are they though?  Almost one– and so much fun!  I was SO impressed with the way these parents kept their cool– even with all the tears and frustration of not being able to take some of the pictures we wanted.  These are some lucky kids!

The Birth of Austin Charles…

I had the honor of photographing a 2nd birth (only a few weeks after the 1st) and this time it was my precious nephew!  Christina’s water broke at 2am, contractions started shortly after… so I raced to find people to watch my twins (husband worked yesterday) and then raced to Austin… to wait… and wait… and wait.  The sweet little boy was very content where he was and took his time coming out (finally around 10:20 last night)… but it was well worth the wait.

His mama was a CHAMP– not one complaint– took every order the nurse or doctor gave her with almost a smile…. and produced a magnificent 8lb 2oz little boy.  Congrats Jeremy & Christina— and thank you for wanting me there!  :)  By the way— Jeremy was so sweet and supportive the entire process (as you’ll be able to see from the pictures).  I could tell he wanted to take on her pain so she wouldn’t have to suffer… so sweet.  Newborn session scheduled for next weekend… so back to “Austin” we will go!  Here is some of what I captured….

PS… for any photogs wondering:  2.8 f-stop, 1100 ISO… no flash!

Come out… Come out… Wherever you are!?

So… based on the statistics counter on my blog, I get between 300-600 hits per day depending on if I have a new post that day or not (some of you must have that google thing that tells you when blogs are updated!).  So– WHERE are the comments?  :)  I’d love to hear from all of you who check out my blog… just tell me who you are, where you live– and anything else you’d like to share!

I’m in the process of having my blog/website totally overhauled– and AM SO EXCITED to share that with you… it will be in stages, but eventually there will be one blog/website totally combined, with a simpler ordering systems, faster load time and much more!  (Thanks, Martin!)… so stay tuned.  But in the meantime– Hello???  Come on out of hiding!  :)

ENJOY (what is a post without a photo?):

My original quads…

(Now that I’ve photographed three sets of quads–phew!)… I can’t just call them “the quads”… so here is my first set.  Mama wanted pics of them in the same sweaters we photographed them in for their 1st birthday (they just turned two!)… so we did those and then did a quick Valentine’s Day photo.  We had one unwilling participant, but still managed to get a few shots!  :)  Here is one of my favorites…. can you tell which one wasn’t having it!  :)

Valentine’s Day Mini-Minis…

Today was so much fun!!!  These short little sessions (15 minutes) went off without a hitch…. besides some lollipop drool and some reluctant kids who really needed a little more time to warm up to a stranger in their face with a big ole camera… but that’s ok!  We got some awesome images anyway!  I’ll put up one from each session (and hope your husbands don’t look!)  I told everyone 5-10 images in their final gallery, but I think they will probably get more because there were too many to narrow it down!  Some seriously gorgeous kids came through today… loved it all!

If you missed out on today and are interested, please email me.  I’m thinking about doing another one next week, but am not 100% sure.  Thanks!

Valentine’s Surprise….

So…. SHHHHHHH if you know this baby’s daddy!  :)   He must not be a blog-stalker– because her mommy told me I could put these here!  (How dare you, Brad!)… Anyway:  Instead of a traditional 9 month session– her Mama decided to pretend like they were not having one and surprise Daddy for Valentine’s Day with some of these shots.   Perfect idea– perfect baby– and (in my opinion) perfectly beautiful pictures of Little Madi-cakes!

I’ll put a before baby (baby in the belly with heart on top) and after baby photo right here:

Valentine’s Backdrop…

Lots of people who are coming to the mini sessions this coming week have asked what the backdrops look like… and this is one of the new ones.  Just a quick shot of Miss E– who quickly asked where her lollipop was.  Nope!  Not until the official Valentine’s Day shoot!  :)
