Mr. James (AKA: Cutie Pie)

This little guy is the reason I went to DC last weekend… and I am so glad I did.  His Mommy has been one of my best friends for many, many, many years (was college REALLY that long ago?) and I just love how happy this little man makes her (and her big man, Sandy!)  We had so much fun all weekend– and she had the most amazing park for pictures.  Carousels, flowers, bridges, rock walls, grass, wagons, tents, etc… It was like a photographers dream… but, it was HOT– well, they thought it was hot, I thought it was quite pleasant!  :)  Anyway, we got some adorable shots of James alone, James with his parents– and even James with his favorite pup, Pierre!

1st HOLIDAY mini-session!!!

Yes… I know… Christmas-time keeps getting earlier and earlier.  But, I am going to be more prepared for it this year and try to be done with all sessions, cards, prints, etc by December 1st so I can enjoy time with my family!   Therefore, I am setting up sessions NOW!

Join my facebook page (search for Betsy Marie Photography) and become a fan to receive a special incentive!

Right now, I am just offering these Mini-sessions to PREVIOUS clients who have had pictures taken in the last year!  I will announce later when I have opened mini-sessions up to new clients– however, new clients can always book a full session right now.  I highly encourage new clients to do the full sessions because it is hard to get to know a child, get them to act like they normally do and get great pictures all in 30 minutes!  If you do a full session, you can have many outfit changes, so the christmas-card portion could just be short and sweet!  Email me with any questions!

Holiday Mini Session Details:

Includes 30 minute session

15-30 edited images in an on-line gallery for viewing

2-3 examples of holiday cards prepared with your pictures (after picking a card, you can have one free edit)

Beautiful “Cedar”….

I got to meet little Cedar briefly while I was in DC…. and I’m so glad I did!  He woke up from his nap all smiles– even with two strangers greeting him downstairs— and he didn’t stop smiling the entire time.  I could have taken pictures of him all day–if only I had had time.  Such a great family…. you can just tell how in love they all are with each other.  Thanks for letting me stop by!

Playdate Photo Session in Bethesda!!

What a great idea!!!  I will be offering these starting in October because it went so well in Washington DC!

One of my best friends from college had a baby 10 months ago– and I had not met him yet… I saw her in Austin for a wedding and her husband said she wouldn’t stop talking about how she wants me to come photograph little James.  So, for Mother’s Day her husband gave her a gift certificate of ME!  :)  We had a full session together with her family yesterday (will post that later this week)… however, she had a few friends who wanted photos too, but I didn’t want to take the entire weekend up taking pictures when we had lots of shopping, eating, playing and sightseeing to do, so we organized a playgroup/playdate photo session.  The all got roughly 30 minutes of picture taking time, and if one got fussy, we moved to the next one and then came back to the other… it worked out perfectly!  The moms got to talk, hang out, eat, play– (so did the babies) and they all came away with some great images!

So– email me if you are interested in doing something like this with your playgroup!!   The rate will be $250 for 2-3 hours and you divide that up among however many people come!  We could meet at somebody’s house (as we did here) or at a park.   Just remember, the more people you have, the less time with me… but 30 minutes seems to be plenty to get a few good shots!

Anyway… here are some from my first playdate photo session!  Be ready– there are A LOT (might take a long time to download– I’m sorry)!!!

ENJOY!

These four got their lollipops early so they could go home and nap…. but there were 5 there total!

From Boots to Hats…

Ok…. EVERYONE remembers this shot, right:

trip-35Well… little Trip has grown up… and now he is into hats!!  Well, not quite “in to” them like he was with the boot—but, you get the drift!  (by the way… there will be more from his 6 month going on 8 month session later this week):

Shhhh… surprise pictures for their Grandma!

Wow… I dropped the ball on this session.  I was just starting to edit these (yes… I’m taking 3-4 weeks for proofs these days– need to learn how to say no!!!) and I realized that I never put them on my blog!  Sorry, Julie!

Anyway…I have photographed three of these kids many times (I’m sure you’ll recognize them), but never with their little cousin, Jack, from Iowa.  He was down visiting, so they planned a photo session to get all of the kids (and adults) together for pictures for CHRISTMAS for their Grandma.  Talk about good planning.  Had so much fun chasing these four around the park!  We had outfit changes, location changes and then lollipops!  Lots of fun!

Speaking of Christmas… I will be putting up mini-session dates for Christmas cards this year VERY early… like probably sometime this month or next.  Last year, it got pretty crazy and I was very stressed trying to get everyone’s cards done in time— so we’re going to plan ahead!  If you have had a session (of any kind) with me in the past, you are going to have first dibs on the Christmas mini-sessions– which will all be done before November this year!  If you have never used me, and are interested in Christmas Cards, send me an email.  It’s hard to get to know a child in 30 minutes, so the best idea would be to book a full session and have one “holiday outfit” in mind for the cards towards the middle of the session.  Just wanted to get you all thinking!  :)

Ok… now for the pics!

ENJOY:

I love the group shots because the kids were refusing to look towards all of the adults… instead they were just doing their own thing.  When I told Cate’s mom to try to get her to stop sucking her thumb, she said, “That’s ok… that’s Cate”… have to love that type of mom!!!

As promised… more of the twins!

This “newborn” session was nonstop… (as in nonstop poo-poo’s and pee-pee’s!)… No… not really…. just on Grandma and Mama!   These ADORABLE twin boys were born a little early, so we had to wait for them to get home and get some meat on their  bones before we had their session.  So– they are “sort-of” newborns!  And they sort-of didn’t want to sleep!  We finally got them to snooze– and they looked like angels.

ENJOY:
