Best of 2008 contest…

I want to thank everyone for a wonderful 2008.  This was my first “official” year as “Betsy Marie Photography”—and I met a lot of wonderful people (and beautiful children) and learned a whole lot!

I have decided to have a little contest… Please vote on your favorite picture out of my favorites from the past year!  I was going to put my favorite picture from each session, but then I realized how many sessions I had and just thought it was too many!  So– if you don’t see your child’s picture below it is simply because I didn’t have room (or enough time!) to put ALL of my favorites!  :)

The winner will receive an 11X14 mounted print of their photo (so tell your friends to vote)!

The rules:

1.  Please only vote once

2.  Vote by clicking on “add a comment” below the 18th picture and simply tell me which one is your favorite!

I will announce the winner on Friday, January 9th.

Also, the winner of the “Giving is Awesome” contest will be picked TONIGHT– so if you have any last minute nominations, please e-mail them to me ASAP!  I will check my e-mail one last time right before midnight! :)

Baby B’s “Awake” Newborn Session… {Frisco Newborn Photographer}

December 28, 2008 – 9:00 pm

I posted a picture of Beautiful Baby B when she was two days old (right before Christmas)… and today was her official “newborn session”…  Her mommy has been telling me how she has her days and nights confused and sleeps all day long and then has her awake time in the middle of the night– however, today (OF COURSE) she finally figured it out!  When I got there she was sound asleep, but as soon as we started moving her around she was wide awake and ready for some excitement.  She is 12 days old… so maybe we missed the “sleeping newborn” stage… but we got some amazing shots of her anyway.  She truly is beautiful.  We will have a 2nd session (once her big sister gets over RSV and can come home from  her grandma’s house)…because we need a great picture of the two girls for their birth announcement.

Christmas Eve Family Photo Session…

You know I must love this lady if I agreed to a Christmas-Eve-Day photo shoot!  :)  Actually, we had it scheduled for yesterday but the weather did not cooperate, so we knocked it out today in 45 minutes!  I don’t normally do these large groups, but I photographed the two youngest boys a few months ago and love their Mommy, so I agreed!   Such a cool and fun family— I know they are going to have a great time cooking (and drinking) tonight… SO— MERRY CHRISTMAS!

What a “TRIP”!!!

Well…. little Trip (AKA– “The baby in the boot”) is already 9 weeks old and I got to spend another afternoon with him.  This time we went to his Grammy’s house to play (along with Mommy, Daddy and Grandpa Chuck).  Oh– and did I mention, Grammy has seven amazing cats?  In between taking shots of beautiful trip and his beautiful family– I snuck in some pictures of these cool cats.  Obviously, I don’t specialize in animals– but, I must say, I got some pretty cute shots of a few of them (I’ll put two of my favorites on my blog).

The last of the Christmas Card Posts…

I am sure I left some off, but I am about D.O.N.E with Christmas Cards this year… :)  I hope you enjoyed seeing what I can do with your images…. and next year we can work to get you a beautiful one too!!  I hope everyone has mailed out your cards– otherwise I might be ruining the surprise! I’m going to mostly just put fronts of the cards-just so you can get an idea of how different they all were…

Baby B…

24 hours old… and sweet as can be.  You are going to see A LOT of this baby as she grows… so look out!!  I know there are probably people checking in to see some pics of this beauty– so I’m putting just ONE up before she and her Mama come home from the hospital and send out other pics.  She is beautiful– just like her Mommy, Daddy & big sis!

Giving is Awesome….

You know someone.

You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography – $820 worth, to be exact.  It’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives the session fee with me for FREE. What better reason to show some love?

* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

* The nominee must reside in the Dallas, Texas area.  Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

Christmas Cards…

Well…. the rush for Christmas cards is over (phewwww!) and I wanted to share mine with you, but I had to wait until I knew everyone I sent them to had them in their grubby little hands (so international friends… don’t look yet).  If you missed out this year (either because you didn’t have a session with me or because I didn’t have time to make your cards for you)–  next year I will be starting earlier (think early October) and I will be able to get everyone taken care of!  I loved how each one turned out– so maybe I’ll put a few up to show you between now and Christmas since I only have a couple sessions scheduled (and instead of  taking pictures I will be doing a lot of shopping to make up for how busy I was and how SICK we all were for most of November.)  Ok… here it is:
