I did a little fundraiser for our neighborhood Christmas Party and took pictures of all the kids with Santa for a donation.  My sister started a foundation a few years ago (www.nepalikids.com) so all the money is going to them.  It was SO MUCH FUN!  Not only seeing the excitement on all of their faces, but also hearing what they requested of santa.  My favorite line was from a little boy named Jake who when asked what he wanted from santa replied, “I already told you.”  HA!  Santa said… oh yes… but please remind me.  Classic.

ENJOY some of my favorites (you can click on the small thumbnails to see them bigger):

Oh JOY!  I am totally caught up.  I didn’t think it would happen… now I am just getting orders in, distributing them and trying to get my own Christmas cards addressed and out the door!   I finished ordering all prints that met the deadline of today— so I should have those all ready for pickup by Tuesday or Wednesday for anyone who is still waiting.

While I was working on my cards today, I thought that I would do something fun.  After I address all of the cards I am sending to clients, I am going to slip a “free” session voucher in one of them without looking at the front…. so, if you think I might not have your address and you want to be part of this mini-contest, send it to me via email!  Who knows… it could be you!  And… please don’t forget to send me some nominations for the “Giving is Awesome” contest.  I’ve gotten a few already that have made me cry.

Since I know some of my clients have already sent out their cards (since they sent me one– even though I tell everyone that I keep one— just makes me laugh)… I thought I could put some of the cards up here for everyone to see.  I’m so happy with how they came out!  All the months of working my tail off pays off when I have happy customers!  I’ll try to put up a few every few days.

ENJOY:

I had this same contest last year– and got so many wonderful submissions– so I thought I’d do it again for 2009.  This is a nationwide event (http://www.givingisawesome.com/).

Here are the details:

Do you know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances?  Do you know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season?  Do you know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty?

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography — $1000 worth, to be exact. Whether it’s canvas or albums, prints for Grandma, or a slideshow to watch over and over, it’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.

Oh, and the best part?  The person who nominates the winner receives a $200 credit towards a session fee.

The rules:

* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

* The nominee must reside in the DFW area.  Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork.  Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

* You must e-mail me the full story : betsy@betsymariephotography.com

The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve — get nominating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

Love, Betsy

And… one photo for you!  :)
